In this article, I share compelling stories from the trailblazing women of healthcare. Elizabeth Blackwell paved the path for innumerable women by becoming the first woman in the United States to earn a medical degree. This article points out that Dr. Blackwell faced years of discrimination before graduating first in her class from Geneva Medical College of New York in 1849. Her contemporary, Ann Preston, faced similar hurdles as she became the first dean of the Women’s Medical College of Pennsylvania (WMCP)
